The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Displeasure About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
