An individual who contaminated sweets with tranquilliser and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children aged nine and ten years old.

Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.

However, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old child.

The defendant was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.

'Treat game'

The legal representative, handling the case, described the criminal behavior to the court.

She stated his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he operated.

The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge Ruben had played this game with the young males "repeatedly", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.

She explained Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in recently.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about what was going on, for good reason.

"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."

The prosecutor explained materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She said the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.

The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the incident.

Mrs Prior explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement a second time.

She said Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
